21 YEARS: RICHARD LINKLATER looks at the life and work of Linklater, 21 years into a career that has gone from SLACKER to SCHOOL OF ROCK, the BEFORE SUNRISE trilogy, BERNIE and beyond. With the trailer and clips from the film, and insight from director and producer Michael Dunaway, we learn about the life lessons given by some of the famous and fascinating actors that have featured in Linklater’s films--such as Jack Black and Matthew McConaughey. Ondi Timoner hosts this full length uncensored BYOD about one of the most essential directors currently making movies.

FILM AND GUEST INFO:
Few directors have single-handedly shaken up the film establishment like the godfather of indie, Richard Linklater. From the groundbreaking SLACKER to his innovative BOYHOOD, Linklater has reached the 21-year mark and has unapologetically carved his signature into American pop culture. Get a raw and honest perspective on Richard through candid conversations with Ethan Hawke, Jack Black, Keanu Reeves, Billy Bob Thornton, Matthew McConaughey, Jason Reitman, Julie Delpy and others, and see their stories brought to life through hilarious animated sequences. For a man who became famous for celebrating the cool and casual, Linklater emerges as a surprisingly strategic and visionary director who has already established a legacy and perfected a style that can’t be denied. 21 YEARS: RICHARD LINKLATER is co-directed by Michael Dunaway and Tara Wood, and produced by Michael Dunaway, Tara Wood, and Melanie Miller.

Michael Dunaway is the Editor of the Film Section of Paste Magazine, and the Founding Partner of Gasoline Films and of Poitier & Dunaway Motion Pictures. He is the producer and director of 21 Years: Richard Linklater, a Gravitas Ventures release which stars Matthew McConaughey, Ethan Hawke, Julie Delpy, Zac Efron, and many others, and is a New York Times Critics Pick which debuted at #8 on iTunes. He was also the producer and director of The Man Who Ate New Orleans, with Oscar nominee Morgan Spurlock, Emmy winner Natalia Livingston, and James Beard winners John Currence and John Besh. Previously he was a producer and director on several shorter projects, including serving as segment director on Frank Kelly's groundbreaking film 140, which won the Bronze Palm at the Mexico Int'l Film Festival. His short film Bread won Best US Narrative short at the 2011 Rome International Film Festival, where it premiered. He was an Associate Producer on 2011 Independent Spirit Award nominee An African Election. Current projects include a scripted historical civil rights epic with the King and Poitier families. He lives in Atlanta with his wife and children.
